These are the lesson plans that I made and followed as I worked with my children.
Each lesson focuses on a different aspect of self-esteem, however some topics were revisited more than once.
Here is the worksheet I initially worked on with the children before having them do the introductory videos. This was my first big teaching moment. Janiah said she liked six flags. I helped her realize that she is brave. I helped Sky realize that he is kind hearted or “sweet-hearted” as he says. It’s the cutest thing ever.
Here is one of the first times I met with the children. I wanted to get to know them so I had them draw a picture about something that represents them and to share their story.
Here is a picture from my decision making lesson plan. I switched up my teaching style because I was using a different room, I had access to a whiteboard.
The students were very interested in the decision making lesson. Malakai was so excited to be learning about this and was very active in class. He has shown so much improvement since the first day I met him. He has also been doing extremely well in the classroom grade wise and behavior wise.
This is from my self-discipline lesson where we talked about how we react to others in different situations. In this worksheet my kids were given an action that was done and they had to choose how they could best react to it.
These are few promises from my kids. I asked them what they would promise to do for me while I am gone.
This is an email from my Mentor, Priscilla Esernia, to my teacher, Mrs Boutillier, about my progress with the children.
Two of my children wrote something they learned and their favorite memory. Top: The videos were my favorite memory of all time. I learned to be kind to one another. Bottom: The first thing I remembered is the time we started with Miss Shaniyah. I learned to trust people in the group.
This is a testimonial from my mentor, Mrs. Esernia regarding my progress and my kids' feelings about me.
This is a quick worksheet from my decision making lesson. The kids had to place different scenarios under whether they thought it was a good choice or poor choice. We discussed each scenario together before taping.
These are little notes I placed in my kids gift bags as a remembrance of what we talked about and accomplished together.
These are the gift bags I made for each of my children.
These are the cups I bought and wrote on to remind the kids of how great they are. I put these in their gift bags as well.
This is the front and inside of the thank you card I bought for my mentor. I also wrote a personal thank you inside the card.
